MERMAID QUEEN OF THE MER CLAN. New Orleans, Louisiana Mardi Gras day 2009.

MERMAN KING OF THE MER CLAN.

New Orleans, Louisiana.  Mardi Gras day 2009

The furrow of a brow weighted with the wisdom of the ages.

Yes, Mer people do exist.

"Merman, will this passageway not lead us to the sea?"

The mer people peer askance at a cryptic sign for water.

"...and farewell ye humans of the Crescent City! May your year upon land prosper and the Big Easy stay afloat. Members of the Mer Clan shall keep a watchful eye upon your waters and continue to gather and guard the wisdom of all eternal time!" The Mermaid's peroration before reuniting with the water.

Emerging from the depths of the muddy Mississippi, Merman King of the Mer Clan shakes his tail to rid the river residue.

MERMAID QUEEN OF THE MER CLAN at 15,000 feet. Behind her lies the Himalayas, most notably Mt. Katchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world.  Note the particularly frigid appearance of her frozen tail!

Congratulations New Orleans Saints! 2/18/10-- The Merman and Mermaid emerged from the Mississippi River in fine form on Superbowl Sunday!
